About the ETCA

If an older Stanford or Corringham Resident is asked where the East Thurrock Community Association is, there will be every possibility they will not know.  However, ask them where the Stanford Drill Hall is, and you will be directed straight here.  This is because, before we obtained the lease over 40 years ago, the building was the home of the Territorial Army!

The first meeting of the Community Association was on 20th August 1963.  Because the association had no premises of its own, meetings were held in members own homes.  From that very first meeting until the present day, the aims of the association have hardly changed - To promote the well being of the community, to provide facilities for physical, mental training and recreation and to foster a community spirit.

The founder members still have strong connections with the association, and, along with volunteers, carried out much of the hard work in 1969, converting the premises to bring them up to scratch.

The ETCA is open to residents from all walks of life, irrespective of political party, nationality, religious opinion, race, colour or age.

There is always something going on - Disco's, dances, cabaret nights, quiz nights, family nights - to name but a few.  There is also Premier League Football available most nights, a Competition Snooker table and pool table and indoor sporting events, such as darts matches or race nights.

We have various affiliated sections and clubs that meet regularly at the club, and we welcome one and all.

The East Thurrock Community Association try to cater for everyone in the community, including you!
